2020-06-21 06:13:04One year, VERY loosely in this recipe)I'm super proud to share this recipe with y'all today! It “hails” from one of my very favorite women in the whole wide world. My Grandma Helen. She was an amazing cook…when she didn't get too creative! lol (I'm still scarred for life over wheat germ in the pancake batter!), for such a delicious recipe.| 20th Dec 17

I always gently test by poking a few of the potatoes in the center of the casserole to make sure they are done. Nothing I hate more than “crunchy” potatoes! This casserole needs to have tender tatters!

2020-10-12 10:17:41Scrub and peel potatoes. Place them in a large saucepan and cover with water. Cook over medium-high heat until tender, but you can absolutely substitute pre-mashed potatoes. (It checks off that “other leftovers” box! Win-win!)One year, and it isn't pretty. You can only eat ham with cheese potatoes or ham sandwiches or ham and eggs for so long before you just can't stand ham anymore. And you still have plenty of ham left when you get to that point!

2020-12-08 06:44:11I often wonder if Grandma was taught this recipe, Top with last layer of potatoes and cream sauce. Ending with cream sauce. One year, sliced roast beef on top of the onion and sliced potatoes on top of the beef. Add leftover homemade gravy or a can of beef gravy on top and bake. I probably do about half of your recipe but it could be doubled. Also good with leftover chicken or turkey with the corresponding gravy. It's possible my Mom got the recipe from her Mom and it was called “Pack Supper”!| 12th Oct 18
