Remove the bread from the pot and use a pastry brush to dust off the excess flour from the bottom of the bread. At this point the bread sounds hollow and is very light., 2017 0 found this helpfulRegular active yeast can be used in place of the instant or rapid rise yeast. It will need to be activated in 1/4 cup warm water. Stir and let sit for 5-10 minutes. However, however y ou could also bake it inside a cast iron skillet or dutch oven If you really wanted to.

Make a well in the middle of the flour mix and add the water. Use a heavy spoon to stir and mix the ingredients only for a few minutes. Stop stirring when you have a very sticky dough, but that's ok it's supposed to be.My loaf was deliberately oval to make small sandwiches., but helps make that same "crispy starch" created by oven steam.
