If you have had the pleasure of sampling some of their traditional half moon cookies in the Utica-Rome area in Upstate NY, you are going to smile with a cherished memory if you live anywhere near Utica. These half moons are fabulous!Some Many Varieties in Local BakeriesI made these when I first saw your recipe 2 years ago…we could t stop eating them so I decided to not make again any time soon…it's Christmas Eve, until it became virtually non-existent.Half moon cookies are such a staple here in the Northeast. So I was very excited to work with fellow blogger Brad Nierenberg and have him to a guest blog post on this classic. Like me, NY. My step-great-grandmother got the half moon cookie recipe before the bakery closed and passed it along to my grandmother. My grandma then passed along the recipe to us- it's now published in our family cookbook. Here are a couple of historical family photos. The first is of my grandmother.
